New “Jurassic World” Trailer is Bananas and We Don’t Know How to Feel About That
We got a look at a new “Jurassic World” trailer this week. It’s got Chris Pratt training velociraptors, genetically-modified sociopath dinosaurs, tons of exposition, and Bryce Dallas Howard explaining how theme parks work. A spike in attendance after unveiling a new attraction? Who would’ve thought?
Anyway, check out the trailer here:
This movie could be really good. But it also could be really bad. So we are…apprehensive, yet curious. We’ll have to wait and see. In the meantime, we can revel in some real life dinosaur news…
Dinosaur Eggs Found in China!
This week, Chinese construction workers unearthed a total of 43 dinosaur eggs, 19 of which were completely intact. The eggs were transported to the city of Heyuan’s dinosaur museum, where the curator went on record saying:
These eggs are large in size, and one even has a diameter of 13 centimeters.
This museum actually holds a Guinness World Record for having the largest collection of fossilized dinosaur eggs. Which is an awesome record to hold, by the way.
We do not yet know what kind of dinosaurs these eggs can yield. And yes, we are optimistic about them hatching. Don’t come at us with all of your fancy explanations on fossilization and lifespans and science and facts. We want a dinosaur!
Not So Serious…
After weeks of leaked photos, rumors, and fan speculation, director David Ayer finally gave us our first look at Jared Leto’s Joker from the upcoming “Suicide Squad” film.
— David Ayer (@DavidAyerMovies) April 25, 2015
Leto’s Joker looks a lot different from Ledger’s take on the character, which, frankly, is refreshing. We were starting to worry that Warner Bros. and DC were trying a bit too hard to re-create the magic of “The Dark Knight,” so we are happy to see that the executives have enough faith in the character and the source material to take a different approach.
Daredevil Season 2 Confirmed!
It seems like only last week we were talking about how awesome the first season of “Daredevil” was. So hot off a series of rave reviews, Netflix and Marvel confirmed that the show will be returning for a second season in 2016.
It was a bit of a shock, however, to hear that showrunner Steven S. DeKnight will not be returning to the production for next round of episodes. The season 1 showrunner had this to say:
While previous commitments unfortunately prevent me from continuing on with “Daredevil” into its second season, I could not be happier that Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez are carrying the torch. They were invaluable collaborators during our first season, and I for one can’t wait to see what they do with the show moving forward.
Doug Petire, of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “American Horror Story” fame, will team up with “Sons of Anarchy” head Marco Ramirez to bring Matt Murdock back to life for a second season.
Now, with “AKA Jessica Jones,” “Luke Cage,” and “Iron Fist” all set to debut between now and the end of 2016, we are curious as to how this is going to fit with the release schedule. We aren’t worried, of course, we are just interested. Hey, the more Defenders we have, the better, right?
This wasn’t the only behind-the-scenes news from Marvel this week…
Writers Set for “Captain Marvel” Movie
We now know who will be penning the screenplay for 2018’s “Captain Marvel” film. “Guardians of the Galaxy” co-writer Meg Perlman and “Inside Out” co-writer Meg LeFauve will be working together on the movie.
Reports say that Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige met with both writers independently, but loved both pitches so much, he said what any fan would say:
This is wonderful news, as we are not only getting an awesome duo to pen the script, but having women write for a female character just makes EVERY KIND OF SENSE. Yes, it brings diversity on-screen, but it delivers a necessary behind-the-scenes diversity as well.
It’s a good time to be a Marvel fan. But not just for movie reasons…
Telltale Games and Marvel are Joining Forces
Sometime in 2017 we are getting some character in some capacity for a video game. Sound vague? Yeah, well, that’s how these things go.
We’ve looked at Telltale’s games before on the site, so this really has piqued our interest. The MCU is a high-octane, fast-paced spectacle to behold. So how will this translate to a point-and-click, dialogue-driven platform? Well, that would depend on the character, really. Would it be an “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” game, or would it bring in heavy hitters like Iron Man or Captain America?
Basically, we need more details before we start speculating the thing to death. The future is the future. Unless it’s rooted in the past, as evidenced by…
Another 90’s Thing is Dragged Kicking and Screaming Back to Life
Anticipation builds for another installment in the “Jurassic Park” franchise. A Clinton is running for President. “French Toast Crunch” is on the shelves again. And now, the sitcom “Full House” is making a return.
Executive producers Robert L. Boyett, Thomas L. Miller, and Jeff Franklin said that the overlords of creation are hell-bent on tying you down with slap bracelets and beating the 90’s back into you whether you like it or not. Okay, that’s not what they said. What they really said was:
The continued support of Full House fans of all ages for the last 28 years has been astounding. It is an honor and a thrill to catch up with these beloved characters and explore their lives today. The love you saw on the show was real. The cast has remained a loving family off screen all these years. We are as excited as our fans to finally bring Full House back to life.
The show will begrudgingly center around recently-widowed-because-of-course DJ Tanner (Candace Cameron-Bure), her three sons, younger sister Stephanie Tanner (Jodie Sweetin), and the ever-annoying next-door neighbor Kimmy Gibbler. John Stamos, who played Uncle Jesse in the original series, will guest star on the revival and serve as executive producer. The rest of cast has yet to be confirmed, but we have a feeling that Danny Tanner and Uncle Joey will show up as well.
Yes, we have some updates for you as well.
